Position Description – Design Engineer

The Design Engineer provides technical expertise and documentation that support equipment solutions related to the sales of OEM manufacturing, Applications Engineering, Engineered Fabrication and Service. This position requires an understanding of OEM and distribution pump operation, selection, and system design. The Design Engineer shall demonstrate skills in the ability to research, understand pump manufacturing processes, project management, reporting skills, attention to details, troubleshooting, and analytical thinking.

The Design Engineer works to ensure that the highest quality standards are implemented and maintained in accordance with company QA processes and procedures.


The ideal candidate for the position shall have:

  • A 4-year Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university ideally in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering


  • Related Associate Degree combined with technical training certificates and applicable experience will be considered

Required Experience

  • 1+ year with manufacturing work experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design of products and shop processes
  • Proficiency with computers and programs such as Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good verbal and written communication skills


  • Supports and completes engineering project objectives related to OEM pump manufacturing, new OEM development, pump applications, and engineered fabrication.
  • Become proficient with understanding pump operation and systems.
  • Assists with service department warranty claims, answer technical questions, and perform Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Project management responsibilities working with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Production and Service groups to ensure that projects are done correctly, completed on time per project and equipment design specifications
  • Generate and analyze pump curves through performance testing in accordance with Hydraulic Institute Standards
  • Is responsible for generating 3-D CAD models, designs and 2-D drawings for new and existing parts and assemblies.
  • Adheres to company procedures of SolidWorks Enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) system and the company’s drawing and modeling standards.
  • Identify and implement accurate Bill of Material documentation and records
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for engineering technical documents including bulletins, manuals, and procedures.
  • Supports Quality Management processes
  • Support Business Central Bill of Materials
  • Other duties as required and necessary to meet company growth objectives


The Design Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering.


Primarily works in office and shop environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or extended evening hours when necessary. Limited travel required.
