Position Description

The CAD Designer coordinates and completes specific project objectives with the Design and Application Engineers and Research and Development engineers as required.  The CAD Designer is responsible for generating 3-D CAD models and designs and 2-D drawings for new pump designs and existing pump parts, pump assemblies, and application engineering projects.

The CAD Designer is responsible for working with the Manufacturing and Production groups to ensure that projects are done correctly and completed on time.  The position also deals with quality issues as they may arise and corrects/revises drawings during the manufacturing cycle when necessary.

 

Qualifications

 The ideal candidate for the position of CAD Designer shall have:

Education:

  • A 2-year Associate degree or Vocational diploma in CAD modeling/mechanical drafting and design

or

  • Related technical training and applicable experience will be considered.

Required Experience

  • Proficient with SolidWorks and PDM.
  • Proficient with computers and programs such as Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design of products and shop processes.
  • Desired manufacturing work experience (shop and design).
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery is desired.
  • Knowledge of machining and welding process is desired.
  • Desire to learn 3-D scanning and printing.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities  –

  • Maintains a good understanding of the company’s products and their construction through knowledge of parts, assemblies and drawings.
  • Creates 3-D CAD models and 2-D drawings for parts and assemblies to be manufactured.
  • Creates 3-D CAD models for conceptual designs for new pump models, pump skids and barges.
  • Works with Manufacturing to ensure parts and assemblies are made correctly to the design.
  • Supports the company’s Quality Management processes.

Reporting

The CAD Designer reports to the Director of Engineering.

Conditions

Primarily works in office and shop floor environment.  Work may require occasional weekend and/or extended evening hours when necessary. Limited travel required.

  • Completed their first year of the CAD Technology program.
  • Continue to pursue the 2-year associate degree or Vocational diploma in CAD modeling/mechanical drafting and design.

or

  • Related technical training and applicable experience will be considered.
